Maya Mouawad

Maya Mouawad is a French-Lebanese-Catalan artist and engineer based in Barcelona. Since 2008, she has been creating immersive installations at the intersection of ecology, technology, and sensory experience. Trained in mathematics, biology, and art technology, she builds works that make invisible forces perceptible: rising seas, plant intelligence, and the passage of time, transforming data into physical and emotional encounters.

Her permanent installations include Retour aux Sources at the Ruinart UNESCO World Heritage site in Reims, Peupler at BNP Real Estate in Boulogne-Billancourt, and Éphémère, in collaboration with Art Explora, at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital in Barcelona and CHU Lille and Bordeaux.

Her work has been shown at the Biennale Immersive de Venise, the Biennale d'Art Contemporain de Dakar, Nuit Blanche Paris, the Grand Palais, the Palais de Tokyo, and the Gaîté Lyrique in Paris, as well as festivals across Europe and the Middle East. She has been featured in Forbes, Vice, Fisheye, Beaux Arts, and Nowness.
